Ann M. Melisi (Salanto)

Ann M. Melisi (Salanto)

Ann Marie Melisi Salanto, fondly known as Anna, passed away in Milford, CT, on October 25, 2023, after a long battle with dementia. Born on July 8, 1943, in Bridgeport, CT, Anna was a woman of selflessness, kindness and faith.

Anna was the cherished daughter of the late Marie and Carlo Melisi, and the beloved wife of the late Philip Salanto. Following Phil's death in 1999, she was blessed to have met Pablo Chumpitazi, who became her loyal and loving partner for the next twenty years until her death. Anna was a loving mother to her sons, George Salanto, "married" to Lisa Urbanowicz of Milford, CT, and Philip Salanto, married to Diane Salanto of Bronx, NY. Anna was a sister to Annunzio Melisi, married to Kathy Melisi of Fort Myers, FL, Angelo Melisi, married to Laurie Melisi of Norwalk, CT and Matthew Melisi of Brandon, Fl. She was also a doting grandmother to her granddaughters, Nicolina Salanto and Talia Salanto of Milford, CT, and grandsons, Dante Salanto and Luca Salanto of the Bronx, NY. Anna is also survived by her nephews and niece, Adam Melisi of Brandon, FL, John Melisi of Aurora, IL, and Diane Kirby of Lancaster, CA. In addition she had many cousins, extended relatives and lifetime friends, all of whom she loved dearly.

Anna was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport, CT, Class of 1961. She was a hardworking and dedicated individual, serving as a front-end supervisor at Stop and Shop for many years. She then devoted 18 years of her life to the Department of Children and Families as a receptionist, where she was known for her warmth and dedication as well as her ability to multi-task.

Anna was a woman of many interests and talents. She loved dancing and ceramics. She was an excellent cook and loved entertaining friends and family. She was at her absolute best when she had a house filled with friends and family, eating her delicious meals, telling stories, making memories and laughing. She lived by the philosophy of, "the more, the merrier" and thought nothing of having friends/family show up unexpectedly. She would simply pull up additional chairs and somehow always had plenty of food.  A woman of deep faith, Anna was a Eucharistic Minister and an avid member of St. Patrick's Church. Her unwavering faith was a guiding force in her life, providing her with purpose, strength and solace. Anna had an infectious laugh and a knack for making people feel at ease, her funny anecdotes and jokes lighting up any room she entered. Anna's life was a beautiful journey, a testament to her faith and her love of friends and family. She will be deeply missed.
