Gels, we had great times in homeroom 106- you always had a great memory for R&R songs, - you knew the singer as well as the record label etc.

Last I saw you was on a national TV gameshow that was aired from California and you were living in L.A. You won somew bucks that day.

When I was a kid I recall your dad sold clothes at a store in the Arcade.

Tom:

I remember the R&R discussions. You didn't mention "The Gels" interest in sports. i remember a discussion he and I had about who was th ebetter basketball player Elgin Batlor or Oscar Robertson.  I said Baylor he said Robertson.  Don't remember who won.

He also raised some eyebrows in Mr Buzak's sophomote English Class, when in Gerry's most theatrical format he advised Mt.Buzak  and I quote "Mr. Buzak, my good fellow, I believe thast you are in the wrong vocation."  And Mr Buzak said two words..    "Gelsner, Out!" and pointed to the door.     That was a great class.   Not sure.. We're you in that class?

Carl. man, I recall Mr Buzak but not his class. What class did he teach?  Gerry, was a funny guy . When I saw him on the game show he was a trip . He said he was an LA cab driver. He was probably keeping a low profile for his acting career.

Speaking about basketball I heard Reggie Minton received a special award recently in CT and he was once the head coach at the Air Force Academy which he also attended. And today he has a position heading up a major college basketball association.

He was a very good ballplayer at Central and someone with class. I recall his senior year with Cabral, Miller, Spears Yasinski.. I think Baraducci was on that team also? Central almost won the State championship that year but lost to their nemisis Hillhouse.

Tom:

You have a good memory!!  The basketball season youa re referring to would have been '57-'58, becuase  the team that I saw play as a a sophmore (my first year at Central) was   Reggie Minton, Babe Cabral, Jimmie Miller, Bob Spears, I think Charlie Jackson (not sure on HIm).   Yasinski graduated before I got there.  Central went into the State Tournament without Miller because he had flunked off.   Milton Walker replaced him as a starter, and we lost in the first round, a close game to Hartford - Weaver.    Central didn't make the tournament in our junior and senior years.

Buzak taught the most progressive English course ever.   He definitely was avant-garde in his teaching approach..

And I;ll never forget "The Gels"!!!    He definitely had a uniqur style..

Gerry Gelsner, a cool guy I had not seen him since graduation, he also played a great game of billiards after school times at a place  on Fairfield Ave & Broad . I think that it was called Park City Pool Parlor. good memories great person.

Carl, I recall Milton Walker because he was a southender like myself and he played baseball on a  the Little League team were we competed against each other. He was a good ballplayer all around. He had a gift and he made good with what he was blessed with in sports..

Jimmy Miller, Goose was his nickname, was a good friend for my years at CHS. Nancy Sedita had a party at her house after the Junior Ring Dance and Goose and I shared a pint od Seagram 7. Did I ever pay a price for that drinking night. When I showed up at Myr Buxton's class for accounting Buxton took one look at me and said- "I figured it would be you" . He had an instinct that I would come to class hungover and he was right. I recall sittin in Buxton's class with the clothes I wore the night before and the red program was in my jacket . It had bleed onto my white shirt and when I saw that red color I thought I was dieing-LOL! But, I am here today .

Have a Rainbow Day and say hello toi Sharon Smethurst when u see her.and any of our other classmates.
