Obituary of Dian Barbara Vince

Dian Barbara Vince

AUGUST 11, 1943 – FEBRUARY 4, 2023

Dian Barbara (Soltesz) Vince, 79, of Trumbull, CT, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on February 4, 2023, after a brave battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Dian was born in Bridgeport, CT on August 11, 1943, to Joseph Soltesz and Susan (Jensco) Soltesz. She was raised on McDonald Rd. in Trumbull, CT, with her brother, Joe, and sister, Susan. As a young girl, Dian worked at her parent’s grocery store, J. & S. Food Store in Bridgeport, CT. She attended the First United Hungarian Church of Christ, where she later married George Vince.

After graduating from Central High School in 1961, Dian studied child development and graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 1965. She was a public school teacher for a few years before beginning a 45-year career in real estate. Dian was highly respected in the real estate community and was held in high regard by many clients, with whom she often formed relationships that spanned decades and generations. She also maintained great relationships with colleagues in the real estate firms in which she worked, including Tom Brennan, Dollar Dry Dock, William Pitt, Prudential, and Berkshire Hathaway.

A fantastic baker and cook, Dian, loved to entertain. There always was at least one--and often more than one--amazing dessert at the end of a meal. Dian’s love of travel took her all over the world. She especially loved travel adventures with her daughters Georgia and Caraline, to Costa Rica, Panama, Belize, Brazil, Portugal, Mexico, Europe, and Botswana. She also loved the water. She enjoyed many summers with friends in Wellfleet, MA and Westbrook, CT, and spent winters with her girls in Florida. Dian had a lifelong passion for learning and reading that made her a tough competitor when watching Jeopardy. She knew all the answers. All of them.

Dian was an incredibly accomplished and loving mom, grandmother, sister, cousin, friend, and colleague. She will be remembered for her dedication and loyalty to family, friends, and community. She always showed up. She accepted life’s challenges, and her favorite saying was, “It is what it is.” Dian’s strong determination to really LIVE her life was an inspiration to all around her. In return, she received an amazing outpouring of love and support from many people who helped her through her toughest years.

Dian was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Susan Soltesz, her brother, Joseph Soltesz, and her former husband, George Vince. She is survived by her sister Susan Pfannkuch; sister-in-law Angel Soltesz; daughters Georgia Vince and Caraline Vince; granddaughter Cataleya Vince; nieces and nephews along with their spouses and children -- and by the many, many close friends she called family.

Dian’s family requests, if desired, that you donate in her honor to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF.org).

I was happy to learn that Dian enjoyed a successful life as a teacher and real estate broker. This does not surprise me as she stood out as a leader and a outgoing person in school. My prayer is that Dian is enjoying every minute of her life in heaven - I wonder how her successful experiences here on earth gets translated in heaven. I suspect it is way beyond what she or we could ever dream of!    Don Parker
