In Memory

Thomas A. Saja

Thomas A. Saja

Thomas A. Saja, known affectionately as Tom, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, in Derby, Connecticut, after a brave battle with Parkinson's disease and pneumonia.

Born on June 23, 1943, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Tom's journey through life was marked by his intelligence, wisdom, and remarkable ability to fix anything that came across his path. Tom graduated from Central High School, where he established a foundation of knowledge that would carry him through a successful career. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country with honor and dedication. Following his military service, Tom continued to apply his skills and work ethic at Locke and Sikorsky, where he was highly respected by his colleagues for his sharp mind and reliable nature.

Family was the cornerstone of Tom's life. He is survived by his loving brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Rose Saja, and his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Nicolett and Ray Wisniewski. Tom was a cherished father to his children, Kathleen and Carlos Colon, Thomas Saja Jr., and Judith and Aris Mier. His role as a grandfather to Anthony and Ashley Maresca, Jeremy and Paula Maresca, Sara Saja, Harold MacDaniel, Thomas and Kim Saja, Samantha MacDaniel, Aris and Chantel Mier, Maegan MacDaniel, Alex Mier, and Stephen MacDaniel brought him immense joy. His legacy continues to flourish through his ten great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Tom.

Tom's passion for cars was more than just a hobby; it was a reflection of his character. Just as he could look under a hood and see the potential for improvement, he approached life with the same thoughtful and analytical mindset. His friends and family often sought his advice, knowing that his guidance was grounded in experience and insight. Those who knew Tom would agree that he was the embodiment of a quote by Helen Keller: "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved." Tom faced life's challenges with grace and emerged stronger, inspiring those around him to do the same. Intelligent and wise, Tom was also incredibly handy. There was no task too great or too small that he wouldn't tackle with determination and skill. His ability to solve problems and his willingness to lend a helping hand will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

As we bid farewell to Tom, we reflect on a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to shine in the memories he has left behind. His teachings, his laughter, and his unwavering strength will be remembered always. We take comfort in the knowledge that Tom's story does not end with his passing but continues through the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he shared. His spirit remains a guiding light for his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Thomas A. Saja's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and resilience. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the remarkable man he was, and we carry forward the values he instilled in each of us. Rest in peace, Tom; your memory will forever be a treasure in our hearts.
