Barbara F. Canfield (Marcinko)

Barbara F. Marcinko obituary, Stratford, CT
Barbara F. Marcinko, age 82, of Stratford, beloved wife of Paul C. Marcinko, passed away peacefully in her home on October 28, 2025. Barbara was born in Bridgeport to Charles F. and Florence (Olson) Canfield Swett and was a lifelong area resident, growing up in the Long Hill section of Trumbull. She was a graduate of Central High School and earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Bridgeport. Barbara worked for Vitramon Inc., JB Martin, and retired from IPC, where she was an administrative assistant. Barbara was known for her positive outlook and infectious smile and would often be found walking around her neighborhood where she loved to talk to everyone she met. She adored dogs and children of all ages-especially babies-and had a special place in her heart for the neighborhood children and her sons' friends growing up, loving them as though they were "one of her own" and welcoming them as family. She was lovingly considered a second mother to many. Heavily involved in her community, Barbara volunteered in the children's room and at craft fairs at the First Congregational Church for over 35 years, as well as Covenant to Care. She deeply loved all of her dogs that she cared for throughout her life, especially Max. Barbara's family would like to thank all of her caregivers at In Home Angels, especially Cecilia Jeanty and Darlene DiLibro who became her cherished friends. Survivors, in addition to her beloved husband of 59 years, include her devoted sons, Michael Marcinko and his wife Karen of Shelton, and Peter Marcinko and his wife Kristine of Ansonia; cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Eric and Sydney; brother, Dr. C. Richard Canfield and his wife Lorna of Idaho; several nieces and nephews; and many cherished lifelong friends. In addition to her parents, Barbara was also pre-deceased by her stepfather, Malcolm Swett. Friends and family may visit on Monday November 3, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Chris Hart, will be held on Tuesday, November 4, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
