School Story:

Hi!

Well, I opened the CHS web page to the Middlebrook School photo and was struck by the fact that it was immediately familiar to me....not only because I recognized the faces, but also the composition and other details such as the way people looked etc.

It was my class, yet I wasn't in the photo- why not?. The next morning, I discussed it with my wife Kit and she said "Well you know Rod, you probably took it!". In a flash, that opened the realization that I did take it!

At a very young age I became very interested in photography and saved money obtained from a paper route to buy my first 35 mm Kodak Signet camera- which I used to take the photo. I also had my own dark room where I lived, which I used to develop the film and enlarge the negative to a larger size. I printed a copy for everyone shown in the photo including the one your are displaying on the website. Some of you may remember that I often had a camera with me in and around school and kind of became the "unofficial" school photographer. Interestingly enough, I still have the camera used to take the photo, stashed away in a drawer- along with the memories it preserved,

It was this early experience in photography that led to many other creative areas in my business career such as video production and editing, creative graphics design, advertising and marketing literature layout/design etc.

Who would figure the photo would "pop-up" some 56 years later and help me remember the past!

I wish to thank all of you who are doing an excellent job with the CHS '61 website!

I have attached an autographed jpeg copy of the backside of my copy of the photo, signed by most everyone shown in it, including the teachers- Mr. Huntley and Ray Rossomondo (sp?).

My best to all!

Roger (Rod) Hinckley, CHS '61

What a joy to learn that Roger lived a full life and contributed so much to so many folks. Roger and I were good childhood and teenage friends and had much fun together. After graduation we went separate ways and did not keep in touch, which I regret. I remember Roger as being positive, fun, and caring, and apparently that never changed. My prayers are offered for Roger's family.

I am so very sad to hear of Riger's passing and send my sincere condolences to Kit, his girls and everyone who loved him.  Roger was a great guy and my memories of him go back to when we ride our bikes on Woodridge Circle in Trumbull back in the 50's, then attending Middlebrook and CHS.  We lost touch after high school until we reconnected on the website and I enjoyed our conversations on the website.  May he Rest in Peace.

I remember Roger well. He had a quirky sense of humor and a pleasure to hang out with. My deepest sympathy to his wife and family.

The Abercrombie sisters were both VERY rememberable students, both which attended, as I remember, Middlebrook in Trumbull before Central in Bridgeport. Both were friendly and did very well as students. Funny, I can close my eyes and remember Joan and her sister like it was yesterday!! My good thoughts to their families and friends who will surely miss Joan.

I am very saddened on the passing of my old friend Carl Noll. Whom-ever wrote his obnituary, did a fine job, as it truely describes and captured his life. Unfortunitly, after his graduation I kind of lost track of him, but the obit filled me in. It did not surprise me- his achievments after graduation. He was indeed a very bright, and cmpassionate person in the early days, and obviously applied these qualities thru his entire life. Fortunitly, I have clear memories of him in those early days and the obit didn't surprise me regarding his life after Central. My sympathies to his family whom I am sure will miss him, I will not forget him either, and I am sure other classmates feel the same way.

I remember Linda very well, she was always an "up" person, friendly and kind. Will think of her and all the others who have been taken from us.

Wow, What an Amazing Life she led!! I found I had to read her obit more than once! I only wish I had gotten to know her better in school!
