Robert A. Pederson

Robert A. Pederson

Robert Arnold Pedersen, Jr., of Ivoryton, husband of Susan Pedersen, passed away suddenly after declining health on December 30, 2015. He was born on April 30, 1943, in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Robert and Jackie (Concklin) Pedersen. Bob grew up in Eastchester NY. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, two years stationed in Japan. After honorary discharge from the military he attended Cortland State University NY and graduated with a degree in History. He was retired from Westbrook Honda, Saybrook Nissan and Reynolds Subaru. He loved boating, fishing, photography and owned a boat (Special K) for many years that took him on numerous fishing trips with family and friends to Block Island, Montauk and beyond. He had a passion for watching sports - more specifically the Jets, UCONN basketball and most importantly the Mets. He enjoyed music and playing setback with his buddies and cousins on the porch of the Tiltin' Hilton in Westbrook every summer. His generous and caring personality touched many friends and family, as well as his infectious sense of humor. He loved his daughter more than anything, from dinghy rides on Long Island Sound and beanie baby shopping to Mets games and french dips at Delaney's. He was more than happy to continually support her athletic ability throughout high school as well. There was nothing that made him more proud than watching Kiersten score a record number of 3 pointers in basketball her senior year, and score the winning goal in field hockey playing her last game as a senior. Bob is survived by his wife Susan; daughter Kiersten Pedersen, of Ivoryton; brother Rick Pedersen and his wife Laura of Killingworth and sister Andrea Turnbull and her husband Jim of Ridgefield; brother-in-law Mark Shvetz; nephews David (Julie) great niece Meadow Shvetz, Justin Shvetz, and Todd Shvetz (fiancée Dana Saccomano); many cousins, good friends, faithful dog Buddy, Fat Cat and Buzz. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Janet Shvetz. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday January 6th from 3-6pm at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation, 127 Washington Avenue #9, North Haven, CT 06473 or the American Diabetes Association, 2080 Silas Deane Hwy, Rocky Hill, CT 06067
