Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt

August 24, 2022

Waterbury – Mrs. Rosemary (Rose) M. (Grosso) Obbagy, 79, passed away on Tuesday morning, Aug. 23, 2022, at Shady Oaks Assisted Living in Bristol. She was the widow of John W. Obbagy Jr.

Rosemary was born June 17, 1943, in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Michael  and Margaret (Dipronio) Grosso. Raised in Bridgeport, she attended local schools and was a graduate of the Southern Connecticut State University.  In 1980, the family moved to Waterbury. She had been employed with G-Fox and Filenes and became a licensed agent for The Hartford Insurance Company.

Rosemary cherished her family, especially all her nieces and nephews. She loved going to the movies with her friends and meeting others for her T.A.B.S. dinners. She could spend hours at a Hallmark store looking for that perfect card. She will be greatly missed by her children and all who knew her.

Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Michelle Bruce and her husband, Walter “Skip” of Bristol’ two sons, John W. Obbagy and his wife, Carol, of Bethel, and Brian M. Obbagy of Waterbury; a brother, Ronald Grosso of Stratford; her granddaughter, Nicole Bruce of Norwich; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Michael and James Grosso.

The family would like to thank the owner, Tyson Belanger, and each and every staff member at Shady Oaks Assisted Living for their love, care and support they provided for Rosemary.

So sorry about the passing of Rosemary.   She was one my best friends so long ago.     I remember our Fun Time Club.     We all had such fun and companionship.  We even had sleepovers at my Parents' home  in Bpt.     Her house was there as I passed by on my walk to and from Sheridan school.    What found memories.

Rosemary was one of a kind.    So  friendly, pleasant , and kind.       We all laughed and enjoyed each other 's    company  in school and after school .

May Rosemary now rest in peace with Jesus Christ,  our Lord and Redeemer.       Sadly  many of our CHS   classmates are  expiring.    Rosemary will be sorely missed but  never forgotten.                              I met and knew her parents and siblings.       Both of our families are gone now.    But   I am blessed with so many fond memories.

I am so sorry to hear that Rosemary has passed away.  I remember her from CHS as a very nice and kind person with a lovely smile.  I heard from a fellow classmate who was a very dear friend of Rosemary's that she had a very difficult time the last few years.  Very sad.  I will keep her and her family in my prayers.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Rosemary. She was kind, caring & full of fun as many of you have mentioned. She was a beautiful soul who saw only the "good" in everyone.
We had a special friendship that lasted over 70 years, We met in second grade at Sheridan school & discovered we lived only 5 minutes from each other! Our friendship continued into our high school years & beyond.
I am fortunate to have so many wonderful memories with Rosemary & her family. I will cherish all those moments....especially our Central High School escapades!
A treasured friend...,I will miss her.
Rest in Peace, Rosie. Till we meet again. God Bless.
Diane..."love you like a sister"

Rosie was a special friend during high school and after.  She was smart, kind, caring and thoughtful and never had a harsh word for anyone. She will be missed.  My sincere sympathy to her family members.  I have such nice memories of her from years ago...
